Krishna PaintingAukland, NZ: 15th March 2006. ISCKON, Auckland has decided to approach Krishna devotees in New Zealand and across the world to raise NZD 1 million dollars to make the Sri Sri Radha Giridhari Temple, Auckland, debt-free. The website for fund raising, www.iskconnz.com/ 1million was launched at the temple by a project team member, Mrs. Lakshmi Patel, with a 15-minute multimedia presentation. Sri Sri Radha Giridhari temple, Auckland, New Zealand was inaugurated in January 2004.

This beautiful temple is situated in Kumeu amidst rolling farmlands, hills and a river and boasts of some of the most beautiful paintings of Lord Krishna’s Leelas (pastimes) on its ceiling panels. In the last two years, the temple has played host to numerous festivals for visiting and resident devotees. Currently, the temple has a large mortgage and most of the cash donation goes towards monthly interest repayments. We humbly request devotees in New Zealand and overseas to help “Make Sri Sri Radha Giridhari temple debt free”.

Artist Dina Bandhu Das will be painting the picture on a wall measuring 4.17 meters x 2.82 meters in the temples main worship hall. This is the ONLY 1 million-dollar Krishna painting in the world and the temple expects 10,000 devotees of Lord Krishna globally to donate $100.00 each to make a total of one million dollars and help the temple become debt-free. The temple is requesting Lord Krishna’s devotees globally to participate in this once in a lifetime event of the "1 million dollar Krishna painting" fundraising and receive the unlimited mercy of the Supreme Lord and His Eternal Associates.

Participate in this once in a lifetime event of the "1 million dollar Krishna painting" fundraising and receive the unlimited mercy of the Supreme Lord and His Eternal Associates.

"One who helps in the building of the temple of the Lord or gives money, grain, goods etc, as charity for the daily expenditure, he achieves sayuja liberation of Vishnu. The merit achieved by thousands of sacrifices, donations, religious observances, pious activities cannot surpass such services to the Lord".

The story of the picture is:
Once a woman selling fruits was calling, “O inhabitanta of Vrajabhumi, if you want to purchase some fruits, come here!” Upon hearing this, Krishna immediately took some grains and went to barter as if he needs some fruits. While Krishna was going to the fruit vendor very hastly, most of the grains he is holding fell. Nonetheless, the fruit vendor filled Krishna’s hands with fruits and her fruit basket was immediately filled with jewels and gold.
