FIRST
RECIPIENT OF INDIA'S DUAL CITIZENSHIP
(January 9 2006)
Hyderabad,
India: Ms. Nivruti Rai, Lucknow-born NRI (Non Resident Indian) and
a top functionary with the Global IT major Intel, happens to be
the first NRI to receive the dual citizenship from the Indian government.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh presented the much-vouched privilege
on her, which exercise is expected to run in the direction of cementing
the bond between the peoples of India and their non-resident brethren.
Ms.
Rai, who took part in the three-day 4th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas
event held in Hyderabad, told www.c2b2bnews.com, sharing her views
on the developing aspects of the country. She said she felt glad
at the great things happening in India at the outset of the new
year 2006, to start with the Kalachakra and the Indian Science Congress.
I wish the PBD conference would spell a new meaning for the
whole of our country, she observed.
She
said after finishing her M.Sc (Statistics) in Lucknow, she left
for the United States where she completed post-graduation in two
other subjects in the Humanities and Applied Sciences. Later, she
joined the Intel Group as an ordinary worker. It was my hard
work and dedication to my profession that placed me today in a position
where I stand with ideas for future. When you go ahead
with enthusiasm at your work, come what may, the same thing would
be beneficial to you in the longer run. It would enhance your credibility
in a working culture. She said she had worked on various subjects
and presented twelve research papers along with application modules.
Now, she got patent rights on five of them.
The
philosophy of work with zeal made her complete her 12 years of unstinted
service with the Intel in the United States. Now, the management
has posted me in Bangalore with a responsible position, which alone
is my goal. I am coming to Hyderabad for the first time,
but at the same time it is one of the most memorable events in my
life. That I received the dual citizenship from none other than
the Prime Minister Dr. Singhji. She observed that this step
would bring in a new meaning in the relationship between the government
and the NRI populace around the world. Further, it would help a
great deal in expanding the vistas of the opportunities for the
NRIs to invest in India.
Referring
to her family life, she said her husband too works with Intel and
the couple has two kids a son (12) and a daughter (8). We
share the responsibility of grooming our kids. Our company management
too looks after the welfare of the employees families.
