Lankians batted first and were well poised at the 20 overs mark as they scored at 5 an over to give their innings a firm foundation. Embassy bowled to prevented an on slaught by the Lankians batsman who all made good contributions with Sankalpa Gunasekara (59) and Sujith Kumarasinghe (50) top scoring. Lankians finished on 210-3 in 40 overs.

When Embassy batted they were given a slow by good start by the openers. Lankians skipper Raslin was injured early in the innings and had to watch the match from the side lines. Indrajit Coomaraswami (5-43) put Lankians in control as all the Embassy batsman struggled against his spin bowling leaving the latter requiring a hundred in 15 overs but more than half the side out with Ali Haider making 52. Lankians had pushed the requiring rate to more than 7 an over for the last 5 overs at which point Abu Bakker took centre stage and with some magnificent stroke compiled 43 to give Embassy a 2 wicket win with 2 balls to spare. Abu Bakker was named as the man of the match.

League patron, the former Indian test opener Sunil Gavaskar presented a delighted Imran Haider with the cup.
