Ambani is Asia’s Richest Billionaire according
to Forbes Magazine |
Microsoft
Founder Bill Gates is no longer the world’s
richest man, according to the Forbes Magazine
Billionaires List published today, 10 March
2010. Gates has been pipped to the number
1 slot by Mexican telecoms mogul Carlos Slim
who is estimated to have a fortune worth $53.5
billion. India’s Mukesh Ambani comes in at
number 4 in the Top 10 with a net worth of
$29 billion, ahead of steelmaker Lakshmi Mittal
who is worth $28.7 billion.

| Recession
unduly effects Ethnic Minority Charities states
new research |
The
recession has had an adverse effect on ethnic
minority charities, depriving already disadvantaged
communities of essential services, states
the Council of Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector
Organisations. CEMVO's report reveals 45%
of all Black and Minority Ethnic third sector
organisations have had funding cut by local
authorities since 2008, despite a 77% increase
in demand for their services over the same
period.

| Indian Premier
League signs with ITV |
The
Indian Premier League today announced that
IPL 2010 will be broadcast in the UK in an
exclusive deal with ITV, the oldest and largest
commercial television network in the UK. The
deal, for IPL 2010 - the league’s third season,
will result in 60 matches broadcast live across
the ITV network over the 45 day season, beginning
on Friday March 12th.

in London |
Barclays
Capital embraced Hinduism by hosting a special
'Hinduism in the City' event at the bank's
headquarters in Canary Wharf. 250 guests attended
The City Hindus Network event held in conjunction
with the Barclays Capital Cultural Awareness
Network on 25th February 2010. Shaunaka Rishi
Das, Director of the Oxford Centre of Hindu
Studies talked about concepts like 'holistic
thinking'.

| UK's
first state-funded Hindu primary is a model
ecological school |
Harrow's Krishna Avanti School, the first
state-funded Hindu primary in Britain, looks
set to become a model ecological school. The
shool, which started on 8th September 2009
with an intake of 86 children in the first
few classes, is built along Vedic design principles.
At the heart of the school is a Hindu temple,
replete with a makrana marble dome, carved
in India and installed by local Polish builders!
