ASIAN WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GALA DINNER 2008

HRH Princess Badiya of Jordan, a guest at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2008

Wasfi Kani, who founded Grange Park Opera in 1998 and created an opera festival that today rivals Glyndebourne, was last night named 'Asian Woman of the Year' 2008. She was among nine other winners at the annual Asian Women of Achievement Awards event where guests included Her Royal Highness Princess Badiya of Jordan, and actress Elizabeth Hurley and Awards patron Cherie Blair.

NAZIA HASSAN FOUNDATION BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION 2008

The Nazia Hassan Foundation, set up in memory of the famous songstress, organised a seminar to celebrate her birthday on Thursday 24th April 2008. The event was hosted by Lord Ahmed of Rotherham at the House of Lords - Lord Herman Ouseley gave the keynote address followed by a poem by Reginald Massey in honour of Nazia. Sabih Behzad anchored the seminar with a vote of thanks given by Zahra Hassan.

LABOUR FRIENDS OF INDIA ANNUAL LUNCHEON 2008

The Prime Minister, Gordon Brown presented Lord Neil Kinnock with the Fenner Brockway Medal for the services of the British Council in India at the Labour Friends of India ‘Annual Luncheon’, on Tuesday 22 April 2008 in London. The event was attended by Jack Straw MP - Leader of the House of Commons, industrialist Lord Swaraj Paul and 150 business leaders.

SEWA INTERNATIONAL LUNCH 2007: 'THE INDUS INSIGHT'

Ketan Patel, renowned investment banker and best-selling author delivered the keynote address at an inaugural event titled ‘The 2007 Indus Insight’ organised by leading British Charity – Sewa International. The event was attended by 150 captains of Industry, prominent members of the Indian community and leading politicians.

ASIAN WOMAN OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2007

The 24th of November 2007 saw Britain's ethnic glitterati attend the Asian Woman Magazine Awards For Excellence at Whitehall Palace in London. Renowned celebrities including Meera Syal, Laila Rouass, Ameet Chana and Nitin Ganatra saw a catwalk show featuring fashion houses Seduze, Imani and Sache and were entertained by Muslim comedienne, Shazia Mirza & actress Preeya Kalidas.

Lord Bilimoria, CBE, DL, the Chairman of both Cobra Beer Limited and the UK India Business Council, lit the Diwali lamp for city lawyers at a special reception organised by Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) on Thursday 1 November 2007. The event, which was attended by leading figures from across the City and prominent Indian businessmen and women, marked the firm's links with the Indian subcontinent.
