MPCL WEEKLY RESULTS
Greetings Cricket Lovers!

Controversial Cricket weekend?

Has it been a controversial cricket weekend? We at the editorial offices suspect so as we await the committee's confirmation of match results for at least 3 fixtures held this weekend. Apologies also for the delayed delivery of these results, we are told that this was due to a slow "handshake" between the computer and the telephone line. We've heard of a slow changeover, but slow handshake? No resemblance to MPCL cricket then.....

How come u are spelling my nam rong all the time?

The greatest number of complaints we receive - other than those about cricket, the opposing team, the weather and politics in general - are usually about misspellings of players names or the fact that certain star players are not mentioned. We thought it useful to explain how MPCL results get to your mailbox.

Firstly, the results are reported by telephone by the score keeper (or nominee) to the telephone number given. They are NOT taken from the score sheets. Given the number of mobile phones, tunnels and scrambler dishes in Middlesex, deciphering this information is akin to cryptography (enthusiasts may like to refer to Simon Singh's famous 'Code Book' on code-breaking). Added to this burden is the fact that the league's players registrations are not yet computerised so there is no mechanism to cross reference player's names against a centralised database. Rest assured that a solution is being developed. This will rival that of the CIA so those Hrithik Roshan photos you submitted with your player registration form may not seem such a good idea now!

In the mean time, tell your score keeper to provide as detailed a match report as possible with player's names in full and keeping emailing the editor (cricket@redhotcurry.com) about any erroneous points.
