I am delighted that newly elected London Mayor has hired Munira Mirza as his director of Policy, Arts, Culture and Creative Industries. She has said she will review the Mayor's funding of outdoor festivals in London but I hope, instead, that she will choose to support Watermans with the £500,000 grant that the Arts Council has chosen to cut from this excellent West London venue.

Newly-elected London Mayor Boris Johnson has appointed Munira Mirza as his new Director of Policy, Arts, Culture and the Creative Industries. Watermans applies for judicial review of the Arts Council's decision
Watermans lodged an application with the High Court of The Arts Council's decision to cut Watermans' £500,000 funding. Evidence submitted by Watermans about its successful programmes and impact on the local community (particularly Asian arts) was ignored by the Arts Council in its consideration of Watermans' case. read more read more

British Sikh is London's new Director for Transport
Boris Johnson has today announced the appointment of Kulveer Ranger as his new Director for Transport Policy. Kulveer was the lead delivery manager of the Oystercard for London in 2003 and led negotiations on behalf of the Secretary of State supporting the King’s Cross redevelopment. Kulveer will lead on policy direction for Transport on behalf of the Mayor. read more read more

The Private Art Collection of Tina & Anil Ambani: 7 -10 June 2008
Christie’s London is to host a celebration of South Asian Modern & Contemporary Art from 7 -11 June 2008 with an exhibition of works from the private art collection of Indian industrialist Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani. From 7 June to 10 June, this collection of 32 works showcases artists such as Maqbool Fida Husain, Tyeb Mehta and Syed Haider Raza and Atul Dodiya among others. read more read more

The Ramayana: Love and Valour in India's Great Epic: 16 May - 14 September 2008
For the first time over 120 paintings from the British Library's lavishly illustrated 17th century manuscripts of the Ramayana story from the volumes of Rana Jagat Singh of Mewar (1628-1652) will go on public display in 'The Ramayana: Love and Valour in India's Great Epic', 16 May - 14 September 2008.
