A GEM FOR THE ASIAN JEWEL AWARDS 2004

Today
sees the beginning of a nationwide search for the high achievers
of the British Asian community, as Lloyds TSB and the Institute
of Asian Professionals announce the launch of the Asian Jewel Awards
2004. The Awards recognise achievement by Asian people across the
UK and will culminate in three glittering awards ceremonies; Northern
Asian Jewel Awards in Manchester on 7 February 2004, Central Asian
Jewel Awards in Birmingham on 24 April 2004 and Southern Asian Jewel
Awards in London on 9 July 2004.
The
Awards are looking for inspirational examples of excellence in Healthcare
and Education, Public Service, Business and Commerce, Media and
Arts, Professional Sector and Small Business. There will also be
a special Lifetime Achievement Award. Last years Asian Jewel
Awards received over 300,000 nominations. Past finalists have included
Karan Bilimoria, Chief Executive of Cobra Beer, ballet dancer, Nandita
Shankardass and star of the BBCs hit series, Meet the
Kumars at No. 42, actress Meera Syal, MBE.
