DIABETES - IT'S BLOODY SERIOUS
(1 June 2003)

Diabetes - It's Bloody Serious posterLaunched in April, Diabetes UK's 2003 awareness campaign is aimed specifically at people with diabetes to raise awareness of the seriousness of their condition. The hard-hitting campaign is designed to help people help themselves by finding out as much as possible about managing diabetes and what help and support they are entitled to in the changing NHS.

As part of this campaign, Diabetes UK has produced a new leaflet and poster series called Diabetes - It's bloody serious. Diabetes UK will be sending these posters and leaflets out to every diabetes clinic and GP surgery in time for Diabetes Week (8-14 June). Lloyds pharmacy stores will also be distributing leaflets during this week. There is an English and Welsh version of the leaflet, which can be downloaded or ordered by telephone (see below.)

Throughout Diabetes Week there will be chances to see the Diabetes UK logo around the UK. These will be advertised on the backs of buses, in newspapers and the media, and at three England vs Pakistan cricket matches (17, 20 and 22 June), which will be televised by Sky Sports. Balance, the Diabetes UK bi-monthly magazine, is running a competition in the May/June issue inviting people to write in with ideas about where they would like to see the Diabetes UK logo in the future. The winners will receive free tickets to the England vs Pakistan cricket matches this summer.
